Life, for it to be as good as it can possibly be, needs to include a few things. One of them is a healthy source of support and encouragement. Without it, we wither away. With the wrong source, we turn bitter and still wither away. For some of us, encouragement is a constant need. People like me need to know we're helpful, useful, doing some kind of good for someone. Otherwise, people like me feel like, "What's the point to this life, anyway?" It took such a long time for me to figure out how to make social media work for me instead of against me. Disclaimer: If you don't want to read a post written from a Christian perspective, then just skip this one. But then you won't know more about me. And you might want to know how you can help other writers and encourage them. This is me, but all authors need encouragement and support.
Have you ever had one of those days that just took everything out of you? And does it seem like you didn't even do much that day? I have those kinds of days periodically and Monday was one of them. I took the day off yesterday to recuperate from Monday. What a blessing to be able to do that! It didn't seem like I accomplished much but I know I did and I felt so good about it all. I can't wait to share it with you!
Anyone else out there dragging their feet today? I'm seriously too sluggish today. So much happened last week. I'm amazed I got any work done at all!
Revisions for Over Land & Under Stone are coming along much better than I expected. I'm looking forward to diving back in today. I stopped revising in the middle of chapter thirteen for some reason. Hmm...anyway, that will change later today.
Friday's poll succeeded! Thanks to all who took the time to fill it in. It really helped me get an idea of how readers perceive genre. So I created another poll to see what you guys think about blog content. That's not to say I'll be able to include all those options right away, but I'd like to try to include them all in the future. Also, as a home school parent, I know different people take in information in a variety of ways. I think if I include these options at different times, I'll cover all the bases.

I've been locked out of my Mail Chimp account since February. My phone is dead and there's no getting it back for the foreseeable future. I'm going to work on resolving my newsletter issues and hopefully, I'll be able to get it out to you again soon. I'm setting a goal for July, but it might be August before everything is fixed. Thank you for sticking with me and for your encouragement and support.
Do you ever feel like you're walking a tightrope? I often do considering I'm a follower of the Messiah Yeshua and I choose to write in the fantasy realm. It adds an extra dimension of challenge I was more than well aware of before taking my first step. It might even be the reason it took me so long to get started on my writing journey. It's finally here! The last day of the #juneauthint challenge has come. I have to be honest and say it took me longer to come up with the last video than it should have. I filmed it three or four days late but it's done and posted for your viewing pleasure(?) on YouTube. I'm happy with my answer...not so happy with how the video turned out. You can check it out below. <sigh> Anyway, moving on...
This weekend flew by. It went by so fast, I almost forgot to deliver my dad's card to him. I got very little work done over the weekend but I'm ready to knock out some revisions on Over Land & Under Stone this week.
Today's video post with my answer to Day 6 of the #juneauthint challenge is up. Continue reading to hear more.
The day five challenge is all about your response to the helpful suggestions of others. I can't speak for anyone else, but I love working on my own. I like solving my own problems. Maybe I have control issues, but I just really don't want anyone at all "interfering" with my work. That sounds horrible, I know. And it can be a detrimental attitude when it comes to doing something professionally. There are just always going to be things we miss, things we can't see because we are too close to the project or work. Read on to see my response.
Making videos will probably seem awkward to me for the rest of my life. I know you're supposed to imagine you're in conversation with someone. I know you need to apply all the rules you learn in speech class. And most of all, I know appearance is important. But for me, it's important to remain true to myself. In real life, I trip over words, push my hair out of my eyes, and say 'um' if I'm thinking. I shun makeup most days of the year. I wonder if being 'real' will be important to those who happen upon my videos. On the bright side, I'm up to nine followers. I have the most awesome family and friends. :) Thanks for the support!

I'm gonna be honest. I know the steps to edit the sound for my videos now. But yesterday was crazy and this morning I woke up with a raging headache. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? So for today, certainly, and possibly for the next few posts, the sound quality will be a little worse than days 1 and 2 of the challenge. You can read more about it all further down the page.
I think I filmed day one and day two of the challenge on the same day. And it's taking me forever to figure out what I'm going to film for the last day of the challenge. I've done three-sentence synopses before but I've never written a synopsis in one sentence. It's seriously daunting, even for a short story, which is my current WIP. Anyway, stay tuned for the seventh day of the challenge if you want to see whether I was able to meet it or not. Continue reading to see my response to the second challenge.
