I got behind on blogging yesterday, as well as having to stop revisions on Ripples once again. Our family has come in for the Easter holiday and yesterday was spent cleaning and shopping to prepare. But here are the challenge posts. I did manage to keep up with those.
#CampNanoBootCamp: Day 28 - Prep Your Writing Space; Day 29 - Word Sprint Practice
#TheBookIAmPlanning: Day 28 - Obstacles To Goal; Day 29 - Character's Hobby
#PrettyBookishChallenge: Day 28 - Favorite Time To Write; Day 29 - Books/Movies Like Your WIP
I feel like day 29 needs a little more explanation.
I'm going to finish uploading the final chapters of Ripples this week. I could really use some feedback on it. If you've been reading along, or if you think you might enjoy starting to read it, you can keep up by clicking the link below. It's up to Chapter 36 now and I hope to add 37 tonight before bed.
I know it's been a slow process. Sometimes I get really disheartened thinking of how much longer it will be before I can actually send it to an editor, before I can begin the real refining process, before I can snag those ISBNs and publish it everywhere. But at least by the end of this week, it will all be posted on Wattpad.
(I'm sure you can tell I'm getting tired by the somewhat questionable grammar of this post. My apologies.)
Writing Challenge Posts for Days 26 - 27 - #CampNanoBootCamp #TheBookIAmPlanning & #PrettyBookishChallenge
#CampNanoBootCamp: Day 26 - Inspiration Board/Aesthetic; Day 27 - Writing Playlist
Just a note - All day 27 photos are incorrectly labled as day 26. I made so much progress yesterday and felt so accomplished. And while I was preparing to share my last challenge of the day, I noticed the discrepancy. If that's the only mistake I made over the course of the day, it would still be minor. LOL (It's not the only mistake I made, though. XD)
You'll notice a heavy emphasis on Ya'el in the inspiration board. I know her best and I know Serafin and Edrea a little better than the new characters I created for the upcoming novel. They are really at the forefront of my mind.
One thing I can share here that I can't share on IG is my actual writing playlist on YouTube. So feel free to check it out. :)
#TheBookIAmPlanning: Day 26 - Character's Biggest Failure; Day 27 - Character's Goal
#PrettyBookishChallenge: Day 26 - Favorite Book Series and Why; Day 27 - Favorite Line From Your WIP
For the favorite line challenge, I actually had to go digging through my rough draft. I just like the imagery of this line. I already see a way to make the line stronger by simplifying it (leaving off that last prepositional phrase since it's not really necessary).
Continuing the catch-up madness...
#CampNanoBootCamp: Day 24 - Most Difficult Scene; Day 25 - A Line You Must Include
I think it's kind of funny, but I may actually be able to work that line into my story. We'll see!
#TheBookIAmPlanning: Day 24 - Character Alignment; Day 25 - Character Motivation
I wasn't sure exactly how the creator of the challenge meant this, so I just gave a brief history of the main character I knew most and a little about the other MC who I don't know so well, yet.
I have several characters so I'll give the run-down in a list format for ease and speed.
#PrettyBookishChallenge: Day 24 - WIP Movie Poster; Day 25 - Your MC's Style
My monitor went out before I had a chance to blog the challenges for day 22. The next day, my husband discovered that the cord wasn't connected well at the back of the screen. :/ I checked the other end of the cord and never thought to check where it connected at the back of the screen. So the next three posts will be catch-up posts.
#CampNanoBootCamp Day 22 - Favorite Supporting Character; Day 23 - Scene You're Most Excited About
#TheBookIAmPlanning: Day 22 - Character's Worst Injury; Day 23 - MC's Favorite Insult
#PrettyBookishChallenge: Day 22 - WIP Antagonist Aesthetic; Day 23 - A Bookish Photo Featuring Lights
The antagonists for Over Land & Under Stone are still pretty hazy. I knew I needed some tangible antagonist (or group of them) in this story. Now I've got more than I know what to do with. But here's the basic run-down, photo 1 first from top left, clockwise:
As I mentioned, it's still a work in progress. This story will likely take at least two years to straighten out and get ready for publication. But I like what's coming out and how it's all coming together. And in the end, I need more info on the Sekot-Mundei for use in Surge, which I'll start writing on April 1.
#CampNanoBootCamp - Antagonist: Love 'em or hate 'em?
#TheBookIAmPlanning - What would break your MC?
This was a bit more challenging. Ya'el is a strong-minded individual. It would take a lot to break her. I'm really not sure what would break Kol. He went through a lot in his young life and still managed to make it pretty far. I think I'll find out more as I write.
#PrettyBookishChallenge - Favorite Quote From A Book
I know that since the movies were made, any LOTR quote is pretty over-used, but this one really resonates with me. There's so much truth in it.
#CampNanoBootCamp - MC's Greatest Fear
#TheBookIAmPlanning - Progress
#PrettyBookishChallenge - WIP Cover Aesthetic
I already created a basic cover to share on the NaNo site back in October of 2017. I still like how it came out, though I'd love to improve on it.
I revised chapter 32 today and posted it on Wattpad. I'm not super happy with it so if you read it, please leave some feedback. I'd really appreciate it. Maybe it's my fuzzy, congested sinuses but it just seems...off... I don't know. Anyway, you can read it at the link below. And as a bonus, I thought I'd share what I was listening to while I worked today. I /wish/ our library sounded like this.
Writing Challenges for Days 17 - 19 - #CampNanoBootCamp #TheBookIAmPlanning & #PrettyBookishChallenge
Sinus drips are terrible. Sunday night, I only got a couple of hours of sleep leaving me less than useful yesterday. Thank goodness for Aleve D! (No, they did not pay me to say that.) I got a better night's sleep last night and though I'm still a bit draggy today, I can at least function well enough to write. So here are the posts for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday's challenges.
Writing Challenges for Day 16 Plus a Bonus! #CampNanoBootCamp #TheBookIAmPlanning #PrettyBookishChallenge & #FiveWordStory
Tackling challenges has been hard this month because of time. I seem to have less and less time to complete them. Before I know it, the day is coming to a close and I haven't posted anything! But yesterday, I was tagged by a fellow IG writer to participate in the Five Word Story challenge. It had to be phrased as a question which added a double whammy to the strict word count, but I managed. I mean, a challenge is a challenge, right? It's also an opportunity to learn and grow.
#CampNanoBootCamp - Story Outline/Structure
#TheBookIAmPlanning - MC's Biggest Interest
#PrettyBookishChallenge - Create an aesthetic for your favorite book.
Bonus Round - #FiveWordStory - Create a five word story in the form of a question.
If I was editing this story, I'd change 'now' to 'yet'. Even in single sentences, there is a need for editing.
