Book Reviews: "Rachel & the Hired Gun" & "Lucas's Lady"

8/28/2019

Welcome back! I have two more book reviews for you this week. One of them (Lucas's Lady) may contain spoilers so you may want to skip that one until you've read the book. I'll place it at the end so you don't have to risk spoiling it if you don't want to. :) So let's get to it!

August Writing Challenge Responses Days 16 - 22

8/23/2019

I've been challenged so much this month. With school starting, it was a crazy idea to tackle five writing challenges and a homeschool challenge. Well, two of them were short. The homeschool challenge only ran Monday through Friday and only for two weeks. It's now complete and you can see those responses here and here if you're interested. Another completed challenge is the #MidnightsCurse Challenge. It only lasted until the 15th.
I'm down to four now and still doing alright. I missed one day of the #fantasywipaugust challenge on purpose. Flirty Friday just isn't my style. (Insert shrug here.) To see my bookstagram challenge responses, you'll have to keep checking back in on Wednesdays. Or you could click here, here, or here to see the past three weeks of responses. Read on for week three of the others!

Two Fantasy Book Reviews & More Bookish Photo Challenge Responses

8/21/2019

I've got a couple of mermaid tales for you this week. (xD) Seriously, though, these mermaid fantasy tales are totally different from each other and worth taking a look at, especially if you love the beautiful sea dwellers. I'm also continuing with the bookish photo challenges. One continues throughout the month of August, the other ended on the 15th.
Ready for the reviews? Let's get going!

August Writing Challenge Responses Days 9 - 15

8/16/2019

August 12th is our first day back to school and my oldest daughter's first day at college. I'm writing this early but I expect the week will have taught us many things about how our school year might be improved. I'll also be learning more about how to integrate writing time into our school days. Whether I will be writing in the mornings or in the evenings is still uncertain. But I will definitely keep writing. The writing challenges will also help me stay focused on my WIP and keep molding it into the best product it can be. I'm still working toward the goal of publishing Over Land & Under Stone in January or February of 2020. Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
So, on with the challenge responses!

Two Regency Book Reviews & My Bookish Photo Challenge Progress

8/14/2019

On the blog today, I've got two book reviews for you. I find I'm picking up the pace with my reading but I wonder if my sleep schedule is being sacrificed. We start school next week. I hope I can keep up the pace, just because it's been so good to read novels again. Through this Goodreads 100 book challenge, I've been able to rediscover my love of reading. No matter whether I meet the goal or not, I call that a win.
Now on to the reviews and my photo challenge progress...

August Writing Challenges! Yea!

8/9/2019

I'm looking at my title and wondering how many people are as picky about the spelling of the word 'yea'. A lot of folks spell it phonetically 'yay' but isn't that technically incorrect? ...Unless the "dictionaryists" have dubbed it allowable in the last decade or so. I'd rant about it but it's not productive or peaceful so I'll shrug my shoulders, spell it "yea" and move on. XD
I'm tackling several challenge this month. Two are photo challenges for book giveaways and I'll be sharing those with my book reviews on Wednesdays since they're related. One is a homeschool challenge. It's my first one of those and since I started an IG account for our homeschool, I'll share those on the MPHSA blog and IG account. You can read that by clicking here if you're interested. The last three are totally writing related and I'll share those here on Fridays all month long.
Are you ready? Let's go!

Getting Back to "Normal" With Book Reviews & Challenges

8/7/2019

Things are going to be getting back to what passes for normal around our house. I'm looking forward to that so much! So the blog posts are going to be going back to Wednesdays and Fridays only, especially during the school year. I don't want to overload myself and I think that's all I'll be able to handle for the blog. Wednesdays are still book review days and Fridays will showcase my writing life updates.
Today, I've got three short story reviews for you. What are we waiting for?

Book Review: "In His Eyes" by Peggy L. Henderson & Final Days of the #WIPLinebyLine Writing Challenge

8/2/2019

I've been pounding the pages, so to speak, to get caught up on my reading goal over at Goodreads. I am doing well now. It's a good thing! I can't wait to share this book review with you. I truly enjoyed 'In His Eyes' a sweet, frontier romance by Peggy L. Henderson. You can visit her blog here to check out more of her work.
