With a new year comes new challenges and new changes. I'll continue working to refresh the look of my blog, but that's going to be slow going probably over the course of this month and next. I've got three writing challenges on my plate this month, as well as setting myself an editing challenge. I'm probably going to restructure the blog to be more specific to what I share. This page will still be home to my writing challenges, but I hope to also share more about what I'm actually writing and how that's going for me. I hope to create a new page on which to share book reviews. We'll just see where that all goes...
On with the challenges!

#SelfEditingPro and My Progress With It
So far, I'm on Lesson 2 which focuses on reading through your rough draft as if it was a completed book. The hardest part for me is not editing it as I go. I /have/ been noting some of the glaring plot holes, though, since I'm likely to forget my thoughts on those. I'm just doing that on a scrap piece of paper, though, and not within the manuscript. As mentioned above, my oldest daughter is helping me with the read-through. Having to read it aloud works even better to help me hear how the words flow.
My overall impressions so far on the course are quite positive. I'm looking forward to continuing. Who knows? I really might be done with the initial edit by the end of the month. Here's hoping, plus a bit of mental elbow grease. (That's a strange picture in my head...) (Please do not steal that nice little story prompt unless you're going to link back to this post so I can read it!)
So what are you working on fellow authors and creators? How do you keep your focus razor sharp? I seem to have lots of trouble with that so I'd love to hear from you! Be sure to come back next week to find out how the challenges and updates are going. See you soon!
