Yep. I finished out 2019 with mostly romance books. Once I've shared all my 2019 book reviews, I'll start sharing those from this year. In an effort to get through them quickly, I'm going to share two at a time from now until I finish, which should be some time next month. I hope you'll find something you think you might like.
Regency Romance Book Review: The Duke's Daughter by Isabella Thorne
The Duke's Daughter by Isabella Thorne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I read this all the way through but what a frustrating book! The plot, characters, setting...all were well done. It's the execution I had a problem with. Lots of typos and grammar issues kept me from being able to enjoy this book to the fullest. Another thing in its favor was the clean factor. I just feel like this could've been a 'WOW' sort of book and it fell flat because of something that could have easily been fixed.

OK. So short a review probably means I wrote it late at night. But I do remember the story and it was essentially a good plot. I do remember quite a lot of sighing and possibly some eye-rolling at the typos...much like I give to my own reading when I find something I missed. It's doubly a shame because I think one more good beta reading round would've caught most of those.
Historical Romance Book Review: The River Girl's Song by Angela C. Castillo
The River Girl's Song by Angela C. Castillo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was different enough to hold my attention and keep me reading. The grammar and typos were minimal which was helpful. I also loved the diversity and struggles of the characters.
I don't think I had a favorite character in this book, but I did like them. I felt I could relate to them all in some way and enjoyed watching how they dealt with the problems that cropped up. The MC's determination to make a home for her baby brother and keeping up with it for quite a long while was truly inspiring. Their faith also played a huge factor in how I felt about the action in this story.
It's a clean romance with a love that grows and deepens over time. I appreciate that kind of novel. If you like this sort of story, inspirational love stories, stories about lives of faith or growing in faith, then you'll probably enjoy this one.

#CurrentlyReading: Outside Edge by Natasja Eby
I've been waiting a long time to read this one. I can honestly say I'm not disappointed yet. It's proving to be just as good as the others in the series. The author's name is linked to her website and the photo is linked to the Goodreads page where you can find out more about the book, including where to find it.
#TBR Additions: More Demon Prince from Aya Shouoto!
I'm so excited to finally add these three books to my shelf! I might actually have finished reading volume 13, but I still listed it here. You can click on the photos to check out the Goodreads page for each of them. Honestly, I think the blurb is the same for each book, at least at the beginning. This has been such a cute story! I'd recommend for high school and up.
Thanks so much for keeping up with what's going on in my writing journey. I hope you'll come back on Friday to see what's going on with the one challenge I accepted this month. I'll also share how my editing and revisions of the two stories I'm working on are going. I hope to have a snippet or two to share with you but I'm focusing mainly on my blog this week. Camp Nano is coming and I'm determined to be as ready as I can be for it without skimping for my subscribers. You guys rock!
