Three Challenges For April Plus Camp Nano... What?!

4/5/2019

Yep. You read that correctly. I'm taking part in three different IG challenges this month. In order to share my responses in a way that doesn't overwhelm readers, I'll be sharing them on two days: Monday & Friday. So here's my first Friday post for those challenges and my first post about Camp Nano and how it's going for me so far.

First things first, let's talk about Camp Nano!

Picture
At first, I said I wouldn't participate since Camp Nano can be overwhelming if you don't set reachable goals. But I knew in advance what I needed to do this month and what it would take for me to reach that goal. From that perspective, it just made since to use Camp Nano to continue working on my revisions and use the page count option. I set my goal at 325 pages and we'll see how it goes from there. So far, so good, by the way! I am keeping up with my goal and a little ahead. Yea!
There's another good thing about participating in Camp Nano. As I finish the current revision of each chapter, I'll be uploading it to Wattpad. Maybe I'll get some useful feedback on this novel. I try to give feedback to others. Hopefully, they will return the favor, at least for a few chapters. Want to check it out? Click the link below.

The video selfie for day one can be viewed on my IG profile at the IGTV link. I don't know how long those videos stay up. I linked them to the IGTV videos in my profile, but I don't know if I did it right and the signal is too iffy to check. If it doesn't work, I'll be uploading the bio video to YouTube as soon as I can get it stitched together with the one from Day 3 of the #wwfchallenge2019. We had terrible weather yesterday and it knocked out our internet service.
This challenge is hosted by @debratorreswrites and here's the list of prompts for days 1 - 4.
  • Day 1: Video Selfie - Introduce yourself in a video selfie. (I did a part 1 and part 2 since I had another prompt similar to this one later on. Click the video photo to go to my IGTV video...I hope.
  • Day 2: WIP Pet or Animal - I chose to highlight the griffi and the drakmaugh for this challenge. My griffi differs from a gryphon in that the back end is still more like a bird than a lion.
  • Day 3: What if...? - While editing last month, I thought, "What if Ili and Tam are Liha's brothers or cousins or something? They are also gold...it's a possibility.
  • Day 4: Short Scene or Segment- I shared a scene from Ripples, so I'm only sharing the cover photo here.

@bats_writer is hosting this one and it's meant to inspire as well as help you fill in some blanks for your WIP.
  • Day 1 - Favorite Weasly Twins Quote -
  • Day 2 - January through March Recap: What's your favorite post so far? -  My favorite post is still the mood/inspiration board I did for Surge almost two years ago.
  • Day 3 - Writing Inspiration - I'm inspired by /everything/ in my life, from pictures of places I've never seen, to family, to places I've visited, and events/activities I've participated in.
  • Day 4 - Something Weird You Believed As A Child - I used to believe if my family, who lived in the country, just lived in the city, then my friends would be closer and we could visit every day. But I know now that a simple move wouldn't have changed my mother's strict rules about those visits. If she didn't know the parents, we didn't get to visit the friend. I love my parents for their meticulous care of my sister and me!

@l.c.maxwell is the host of the last challenge I'm working on. I was tagged by C.H. Knyght who I'm interviewing this month. :D
  • Day 1 - April Fool's Day: A Foolish Character - Ka Shi Malaki is the most foolish character in my story, I think. It's because he believes revenge and holding grudges are the right way to live. He doesn't see how these things tear him down in the eyes of others and in his spirit.
  • Day 2 - April Goals - Revised OLUS and get those blanks filled in; create more freebies for newsletter subscribers; get chapters of OLUS loaded to Wattpad for feedback on content
  • Day 3 - Selfie Author Bio: Go live and say hi to your followers! - I tried to link the photo with the IGTV video. If the link doesn't work, you'll be able to see it soon. Stay tuned for the edited and stitched update to my new AuthorTube channel!
  • Day 4 - Your Family - My family is harder to explain than this short post will allow. You know how they say 'Friends: The Family You Choose'? Well, there's a small group of people I feel that way about. There's no way I'd name them all here, but the one I've given my heart to and the very few who share our genes and are @frmrtacp of JD Kittles Creative Digital website (y'all check out his photography, videos, and graphics!) and who also posts vlogs on YouTube as JD Kittles, @_gingers_r_us who writes occasionally at Wattpad, @lil-tee-rouge who is also on YouTube as Lil-Tee Rouge (y'all check out her ukulele and documentary videos!), as well as @kenpachizeraki268 who is also on YouTube as Kenpachi .Zeraki (y'all check out his 360 farm videos!) Shameless plugs for the family's IG/blog/writing/YouTube accounts all around! LOL Seriously, though, if one of them posts things you enjoy, then don't hesitate to give them a follow, like, and subscribe.

The hardest part of these challenges has been the video prompt on day 1 and day 4. I really do not enjoy being on camera. But it wouldn't be a challenge without asking us to meet some type of difficulty and conquer it. Check out Monday's post for my weekend responses. See you then!
