You're probably wondering why my posts have been so scattered as far as timing. I'm not sure what's going on with the scheduling option on Weebly. It could be something I'm doing wrong. It could be a glitch. But whatever the case, I'm just going to keep posting daily as my schedule allows.
Now on to the fun stuff! I'm working on sketches this week. Using the inspiration boards to get some basic ideas down was step one. Now I need to take those basic ideas and write (or compile) some bare-bones ideas to start building a foundation. On day 8, I created a sketch of a scene using Scrivener. Yesterday, I started this...
#writingthesenseschallenge Day 9 - Sound Sketches or Sketching Sounds
For me, sketching with sound means creating a playlist for 'Over Land & Under Stone'. I normally make a playlist for my books since I started adding YouTube videos to my Wattpad version of 'Ripples.' Lots of people enjoy choosing a theme song for their characters. I like creating an ambient mood for each chapter in addition to that. Not only is it fun choosing compositions, those compositions help me get in the right mood for the scene or chapter I'm working on.
I recently purchased my business email address and because that goes through Google, I have another YouTube channel available to me. I'm going to be switching all my writing related videos to that channel and I hope you'll follow me there. Just click the link to get to my new YouTube channel. I shared a photo of my playlist for the challenge, but beneath that is the direct link to my playlist for OLUS. It's not complete because I've only just started compiling it and transferring items from my personal YouTube Channel.
#fantasywipjanuary Day 9 - Plot
My plot is still in the works but I jotted down a basic sketch of the plot as it stands right now and then snapped a photo and blurred it a bit so no one can see all the different variations. I'll share with you what I posted as the IG caption.
Zec and Liha are as different as night and day...literally. Both are forced to leave their homes. Both live under a threat of death through no fault of their own. One was born a dream-seer. The other was simply born at the wrong time of day. They still choose to bravely walk the path that lies before them -- whether they end up walking together or alone.
I honestly used this challenge to start sketching out a more accurate back cover blurb since that gives the basics of the plot, anyway. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy writing challenges. They usually ask me to do things I haven't gotten around to yet at some point along the way. And many times, I like what I come up with off the top of my head. It's usually a good foundation I can go back to and refine later on. I feel that way about my response to day 9's prompt. It's not complete and it's not pretty. Yet...
So how do you craft your plot? With an outline? With a session of brainstorming? Drafting paragraphs? How did you answer the Sounds Sketch prompt? I'd love to see any of your responses in the comments below or on IG (share with the hashtag #writingthesenseschallenge). I have to be honest about not searching out the hashtags yet. I'm swamped - beta (or maybe alpha) reading for a friend, tackling two challenges, and revising OLUS, along with keeping up the blog and transferring my writing vidz to my new author channel on YouTube. I'll get to it, though. I really do like seeing how others meet the challenges presented to them. It's going to be a busy month!
